各家廠商都一直持續傳出將進攻摺疊機市場，而目前sony收購手機sony也傳出將推出首款摺疊新機，預計命名為「Xperia Flip」或「Xperia F」，不過都未獲得確切的證實，目前外媒最新報導指出，sony收購手機sony官方仍在觀望是否推出摺疊機，也尚未定案。
Reddit論壇上的網友爆料提到，sony收購手機sony內部人士透露，「摺疊手機存在變數」，由於官方還在觀察市場反應，沒有積極進入研發階段，主要考量的關鍵是，認為消費者可能為了嘗鮮選擇摺疊機，但仍會回歸一般手機。
